Rental terms & conditions

These are the terms you agree to when you rent a vehicle from Apex Rentals. We've tried to keep them readable rather than burying you in legalese. If anything's unclear, just ask us before you book.
1. Booking and eligibility
To rent with us you must meet our age and licence requirements and provide a valid driving licence and a payment card in your own name. The person who books is the main driver and must be present at pick-up.
2. Payment and deposit
The rental price is shown in full before you confirm. We place a temporary hold on your card at pick-up to cover the insurance excess; this is released after the car is returned and checked, provided there's no new damage.
3. Using the car
You agree to drive the car lawfully, keep it locked and secure, and use it only on suitable roads. The car may not be sub-let, used for hire or reward, driven off-road, or taken outside the agreed countries without our written okay.
4. Fuel and charging
Cars are supplied with a set fuel or charge level and should be returned at a similar level. Otherwise our standard refuelling charge applies, as described on our Fuel policy page.
5. Damage and breakdowns
If the car is damaged, breaks down, or is involved in an incident, contact us straight away. Your liability is limited to the excess shown on your agreement, except for losses not covered by insurance (such as misfuelling or driving under the influence).
6. Cancellations
You may cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before pick-up for a full refund. Cancellations within 24 hours are charged one day's rental. No-shows are charged in full.
7. Late returns
Please return the car by the agreed time. Late returns may be charged at the daily rate. If you need more time, just call us — we'll nearly always be able to extend your booking.
8. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so. Beyond that, we're not responsible for indirect losses, and our total liability is limited to the value of your rental.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by Dutch law, and any disputes fall under the jurisdiction of the courts of Amsterdam.
